Scheduling Preferences

Please indicate your preference for scheduling frequency and availability for any of the following roles.

Emergencies

Please indicate if you are available for emergency rostering. Where possible, the Volunteer Coordination Team will call you directly if the emergency occurs within one (1) working day.

Volunteer Roles

Note: If you have volunteered previously, this form may preload your last volunteer preferences.

Leader roles are responsible for the management of the team, consisting of Helpers.

Morning (6:30 AM - 8:30 AM) 

Guests wake up and are checked out

Meeting Point (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM)

Meet and greet guests at Salvation Army (Gravel Hill), assisting with bus onboarding for Koolamurt

Kitchen (5:45 PM - 8:00 PM)

Prepare the evening's dinner for guests

Evening (5:45 PM - 10:30 PM)

Prepare guests for a restful night in shelter

Overnight (10:30 PM - 6:30 AM)

Overnight team to keep our guests safe through the night

Bus Drivers

AM (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM) - Transport guests Koolamurt Scout Camp > Salvation Army (Gravel Hill)

PM (5:30 PM - 6:30 PM) - Transport guests Salvation Army (Gravel Hill) > Koolamurt Scout Camp

Meal Provider

Meal Providers are responsible for the following duties:

  • Prepare and deliver meals to Koolamurt Scout Camp at 6:00 PM on scheduled nights
  • Coordinating church or volunteer groups in the preparation of meals
  • Menus and courses are developed in coordination with BWNS operations team

Acknowledgement

  • I am aware that the Bendigo Winter Night Shelter (BWNS) program involves physical and relational activities which could possibly cause injury or upset. Should such injury or upset occur, I authorize BWNS to obtain any medical attention or emotional assistance deemed appropriate, including ambulance or social support; and acknowledge BWNS will not be liable for any costs associated with obtaining this assistance
  • I am aware that I need to inform BWNS of any medical condition or medication I have or take that could increase risk to my wellbeing whilst volunteering
  • I am aware that I may not consume alcohol 4 hours prior to or during a period of volunteering for BWNS
  • I am aware that I will not provide my personal details to guests of BWNS program, and nor will I ask for or accept personal details from the guests
  • I am aware that I may not place myself in a situation where I am alone with a guest of BWNS program.
