Volunteering with BWNS

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Please describe if a previous BWNS volunteer, or experience with other organisations or churches and include any relevant skills/qualifications (e.g. First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, AOD, Social or Community Work, Emergency Services). 

Roles and Scheduling Preferences

A minimum commitment of 5 shifts over the duration of the program is required please. 

Please indicate your available days of the week, frequency, leader/ emergency/stay longer availability for any of the roles/shifts below.

 

Morning

(6:30 AM - 8:30 AM) 

Koolamurt Park Scout Camp

Guests wake up and are checked out.

Note: May be asked to ride on bus with guests until 9.00am by Morning Leader.

Meeting Point

(5:00 PM - 6:30 PM)

Salvation Army (Gravel Hill)

Meet and greet guests, bag check, assist with bus onboarding and travel to/from Koolamurt 

Kitchen

(5:30 PM - 8:00 PM)

Koolamurt Park Scout Camp

Prepare kitchen and dining room, serve dinner and clean up.

Note: May be asked to stay longer by Shift Leader.

Evening

(5:30 PM - 10:30 PM)

Koolamurt Park Scout Camp

Settle guests into cabins, provide care/ social interaction and be on hand to respond to enquiries/needs. 

Overnight

(10:30 PM - 6:30 AM)

Koolamurt Park Scout Camp

On site to respond to guest enquiries/needs. 

Note: Fold out beds provided for volunteers to use.

Bus Evening

(5:00 PM - 6:30 PM) 

Salvation Army Gravel Hill 

Support meeting point and drive guests to Koolamurt. Prefer back to back shifts (e.g. PM one day AM next day).

Bus Morning

(7:30 AM - 9:00 AM)

Koolamurt Park Scout Camp

Support morning staff and drive guests to MAD COW for breakfast. Prefer back to back shifts (e.g. PM one day AM next day).

Drivers Licence Details (Drivers Only)

Note: Drivers must be at least 25 years old.

Meal Provider

Deliver cooked meal (mains course and dessert) to feed up to 15 people to Koolamurt Park Scout Camp before 6:00 PM

Integrity Checks

All volunteers (except those providing meals only) will need a current Working With Children Check (WWCC), NDIS Worker Screening Check or VIT registration. While BWNS does not cater to children, the WWCC is recognised as a benchmark integrity check for working with vulnerable people and is available free to volunteers.
